There is a growing need to improve the use of water by encouraging judicious use of water, reducing water waste and to fully utilise and store rain water in all probable storage sites through sensitisation and awareness programmes involving local authorities.<\/p>\n<p>In order to meet various purposes, run-off water from the catchment areas into rivers and streams can be blocked and diverted to water harvesting structures, construction of rain water harvesting structures to tap rain water from rooftops, construction of farm ponds for storage of monsoon run-offs and recharging of ground water should be adopted.<\/p>\n<p>Harness the available water resources and its proper management is top priority, water conservation is not to stop or prevent the use of water but to maximise its use efficiency. \u201cSaving water doesn&#8217;t only help in conserving water, but it is a weapon to tackle the negative impact of climate change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why CATCH THE RAIN?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Water collected in these <u>Natural vessels (or say Resource)<\/u> will<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve Soil moisture.<\/li>\n<li>Increase water table.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce cost of pumping, saves money, energy.<\/li>\n<li>Increase greenery and vegetation.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce urban flooding and water logging.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce flood-damages to roads, property.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce drinking water problems in summer.<\/li>\n<li>Enabling \u201cTanker Mukth towns\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>Better environment- good water bodies-better aesthetics, better health, batter life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Campaign Concept: <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2617 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vardhmanenvirotech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/catch-the-rain-logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1128\" height=\"894\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vardhmanenvirotech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/catch-the-rain-logo.jpg 1128w, https:\/\/www.vardhmanenvirotech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/catch-the-rain-logo-300x238.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.vardhmanenvirotech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/catch-the-rain-logo-1024x812.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.vardhmanenvirotech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/catch-the-rain-logo-768x609.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1128px) 100vw, 1128px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Catch The Rain, with the tagline <strong>\u201c<\/strong><strong>Catch the rain, where it falls when it falls\u201d<\/strong> is to nudge states and stakeholders:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To create appropriate \u201cRain Water Harvesting Structures (RWHS)\u201d to suite to the climatic conditions and sub-soil strata (before monsoon).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><u>Activities proposed: <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Roof-top RWHS in all buildings.<\/li>\n<li>Water harvesting pits in all compounds.<\/li>\n<li>New and repairing of old check dams\/ponds.<\/li>\n<li>Removal of encroachments of tanks.<\/li>\n<li>De-silting of tanks to increase their storage capacity.<\/li>\n<li>Removal of obstructions in the channels which bring water to them from the catchment areas.<\/li>\n<li>Repairs to traditional step-wells and other RWHS.<\/li>\n<li>Using defunct bore-wells\/unused wells to recharge aquifers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>People\u2019s participation <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To facilitate these activities, states have been requested to open\u00a0<strong>\u201cRain Centers\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0in each district\u2013 in Collectorates\/Municipalities or GP offices. During this period, these Rain Centres will have a dedicated mobile phone number and will be manned by an engineer or a person well trained in RWHS. This centre act as a technical guidance centre to all in the district as to how to catch the rain, as it falls, where it falls.<\/p>\n<p>Efforts should be made so that all buildings in the district should have rooftop RWHS and that maximum quantity of rain water falling in any compound should be impounded within the compound itself. The basic aim should be that\u00a0<strong>No or only limited will water to flow out of the compound.<\/strong>\u00a0This will help in improving soil moisture and rasing ground water table. In urban areas it will reduce water gushing onto roads, damaging them and will prevent urban flooding.<\/p>\n<p>Under the \u201cCatch The Rain\u201d initiative, all water bodies in the districts are to be enumerated, (checked with revenue records) and encroachments to be removed.<\/p>\n<p>All District Collectors, heads of institutions like IIMs, IITs, Central Universities, Private Universities, Chairmen of Railways, Air Port Authority, PSUs; DGs of Central Armed Police Force etc having large tracts of lands with them have been requested to take steps to <strong><u>\u201cCatch the Rain\u201d.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Rainwater Harvesting and Vardhman Envirotech : <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Vardhman Envirotech offers simple, scientific and sensible methodologies that harvest Rain water!
